Robotic Harvesters

Everything from strawberries to apples, these agriculture robotics may help the farm shortage.

Clever farmers are reacting to farm laborer shortage by using automated equipment for harvesting and other highly advanced technology that performs specific tasks such as pruning, seeding and weeding, automatically.

Robotic harvesting vehicles are being tested to pick strawberries and replace very labor-intensive tasks usually performed by dozens of farm labourers from Mexico or Easter Europe. Robo machinery is being used to pick apples and other fruit crops, and amazing efforts are used to develop small agriculture field robotics that can even attack weeds or take care of other farm work usually done by humans.

Many of the robotic harvesting machines in fields use electronic sensors and techniques learned through research and development of advanced driver-assist systems and semi-autonomous cars.
